Former University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel’s emails was published in a 118-page document Saturday evening, exposing improper interactions with a University subordinate.

The emails were discovered as part of an internal probe into Schlissel’s actions, which resulted in his dismissal.

The investigation uncovered a series of emails between Schlissel and an unnamed subordinate, referred to in the emails as “Individual 1,” revealing multiple emails. 

The emails were dated back to September 2019 in which Schlissel sent the employee a New Yorker article titled “Sexual Fantasies of Everyday New Yorkers.” Schlissel stated in the email that the item was “simply for fun.”

The regents also disclosed a letter addressed to Schissel describing the reasons for his dismissal, which included sending improper emails to Individual 1 using his official U-M account.

As Mark Schlissel is now fired, he might be now preparing to defend himself in the matter of inappropriate emails.
