Moussa Cissé will appear on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena as Texas State faces off against Oklahoma State.

Moussa announced to play college basketball for Memphis on July 15 of 2020. He claimed head coach Penny Hardaway and former high school teammate Precious Achiuwa drew him to the program.

He was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year after averaging 6.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game as a freshman.

He declared for the NBA draft on April 6, 2021, while keeping his college eligibility. Later, he dropped out of the draft and went to the transfer portal.

Cissé transferred to Oklahoma State on July 15, 2021, choosing the Cowboys.

Moussa Cissé is currently 19 years of age. He was born in 2002 on September 10 in Guinea, a country located in West Africa. 

At 220 pounds, he stands at the height of 6’10”. Although he is a basketball player now, he grew up playing soccer. 

Cissé began his basketball career at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. There he was, teammates with Precious Achiuwa. He later attended Christ the King Regional High School in Queens for two years, where he was teammates with Kofi Cockburn.

While he was just a sophomore, Cissé was celebrated after leading his team to the Class AA state championship game.

Moussa Cissé was born in Guinea’s capital, Conakry, where he lived with his mother until he was 14. He relocated to New York after 14 years in Conakry.

He has not revealed the names of his parents. However, on his Instagram page, his first post was a picture of him with his mother. He was hugging her from behind. They both had a massive smile as he rested his chin on top of her head.

The photo was captioned, “I miss you already, momma see you soon.” Seeing his post and the comments, it seems like she died in early March in the year 2020. 

There has been no mention of his father. Even in his Instagram bio, he says, “In this game for my mom.” 

As ethnicity is a delicate subject, Moussa has not revealed it to the public quite yet. He is on Instagram under the username @moussacisse33. 

Even with just three posts, he has managed to rack up 77K followers.
