Former Carlton president John Elliott has died after a short illness on September 23.
John Elliott was a businessman from Melbourne, Australia. He was a state and federal president of the Liberal Party.
The University of Melbourne graduate worked at BHP for two years before joining the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
He was the president of Carlton Football Club for nineteen years. His presidency ended in 2002. He led the club through two premierships and five grand final appearances during his tenure.
Elliott was actually voted out as president after it was reported the club breached the Australian Football League salary cap conditions and the club had to pay nearly one million dollars in penalty.

John Elliott Illness And Cause Of Death Revealed
John Elliott has tragically passed away after a short illness on Thursday evening, according to Perth Now.
The exact nature of his illness is not mentioned in the media but he experienced a fall in September 2021. He was admitted to Epworth Hospital.
Elliott’s son confirmed his death and said he would be greatly missed by the entire family including his four kids, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.

John Elliott was married and divorced twice. His first wife, Lorraine Elliott, was a former Victorian state parliamentarian for the Liberal Party. She died on 2 July 2014 at age 70.
